Tim Tebow Says Ditch Your Cellphone Contract
If there’s one thing that can be said about Tim Tebow, it’s that the guy knows how to make the best out of just about any situation. A lot of people don’t like him because of his outspoken religiosity and nice guy personality. Still others don’t like him because he was a legend for the Florida Gators. But he also has tons of fans who love him for those same reasons. So what if the football skills that made him a collegiate legend didn’t translate so well to NFL? Tebow is the epitome of an optimist. That trait alone will guarantee that he’ll never truly end up down on his luck.
As an example of how Tebow’s optimism helps him identify opportunity in unexpected places, take a look at the video below. It’s a new cellphone commercial for T-Mobile. Football fans know that Tebow was cut from the New England Patriots after the NFL’s 2013 preseason, and no other NFL team offered him a contract. Where most would see nothing but defeat, Tebow found an opportunity to make some money. T-Mobile is currently running a promotion to pay the penalty fees if subscribers to other cellphone carriers will cancel their contracts and join T-Mobile. The advertising campaign that T-Mobile is running is themed around the idea of a romantic breakup, with subscribers “breaking up” with their cellphone carriers and even being encouraged by T-Mobile to write breakup letters. The Tebow commercial takes a different angle, showing that even though Tebow doesn’t have a football contract, he’s still been able to do so much. In truth, Tebow hasn’t done any of the things he’s depicted doing in the cellphone commercial, so maybe the commercial kind of invalidates itself. People won’t think too hard about it though. They’ll notice Tebow, remember “No Contract,” and switch cellphone providers, just like they’re supposed to. Check out the commercial below.
